Amazon Activewear Haul

Okay, y’all know i’m trying to be better on accepting my body at all phases along this wellness journey. I’ve been holding off buying new leggings for so long that my current collection was literally holding on by a thread.

I found myself searching on Amazon for some new activewear and came across a bunch of listings for an affordable price!

Here’s my review on what I purchased. For reference I usually wear a size 12 for pants and I’m 5’6.5…(yes that .5 counts LOL)

Long sleeve crop top: I freaking love the fabric of this top! It’s surprisingly very cooling and you can wear it in two ways. I ordered it in a size large and felt it was true to size.

These leggings felt like butterrrrr on the skin and was easy to slide on and off. You get two leggings for the price of one! Crazy deal with a lot of color combos. I got mine in the grey and pink and it looked smooth on places my cellulite would typically show. I ordered this in a size large and it fit my hips and thighs perfectly but I had to keep pulling it up around the waist area. I usually have this issue with high waisted bottoms because of my measurements but it wasn’t annoying and I will continue to wear them.

These are a must have for a basic black legging. I love the designs of the seams and it is not see through! Winning! The fabric also felt very breathable and was true to size for my usual “large”.

Okay, these took a second…or two…to put on but out of all of the leggings this had the best tummy control and stayed fitted on my waist. I got this in purple and it has a cute mesh design on the calves.

Keto Ice Cream Base

Y’all, I recently purchased this Pint Ice Cream Maker and I’m in love. It’s the perfect portion for David and I to share some ice cream when we get cravings and I love the texture – it’s like a soft serve and it’s sooooo good. We used to have a huge cuisinart ice cream maker but this one is just the right size.

Here’s a recipe for a super simple ice cream base. You can be creative and add all types of extracts and colors to the mix. Whatever your liquid tastes like is what your ice cream will taste like – so make it your own!

iPad Pro Productivity

Ever since I received the iPad Pro and Apple pen, I have left my MacBook Air to collect dust. The iPad Pro has streamlined my work performance and decluttered my work bag so much, I swear my back pain came from carrying around 15lbs+ of paperwork everyday too.

I also discovered “digital planning” and OMG, where has this been all of my life? Being able to create custom inserts, with folders, and endless amounts of digital notebooks has been life changing. The Apple Pen also allows me to still get the traditional feeling of writing (that I love) but also has an endless amount of pen styles, highlighters, colors etc all in one.

After geeking about it hardcore on our IG stories we had tons of DM’s requesting more info so here are all my favs…

iPad Pro 12.9 256gb in Silver

target.com

You definitely do not need to get 256gb but I wanted to make sure I had enough space for all of my files. If you need more storage you can also pay a monthly subscription to apple to keep everything on a cloud.

Apple pen

You can use either the 1st gen or 2nd gen with the new iPad Pro. The apple pen feels like a normal pen in your hand and my handwriting looks the same!

Apple Magic Keyboard

This keyboard was just released this year and it’s amazing. If you’re looking to replace your laptop, this is key because it also has a trackpad and the functions we love with a traditional mac keyboard. I love the simplicity of it and it’s very sturdy.

iPad Smart Keyboard no trackpad

If you don’t care for the trackpad and are just looking for a keyboard case, this is a great alternative.

Apple USB-C to USB adapter

Most of my files are located in an external hardrive, this adapter connects your usb to ipad so that you can still access your files.

Digital planner

again…WHERE…HAS…THIS…BEEN…all my life? Lol i’m a planner addict but I was just wasting so much paper. Usually I would buy a few planners a year or create my own printables because I had different needs. The customization with digital planners is literally endless and way more efficient. I’m able to use ONE digital planner for every aspect of my life.

Digital stickers

Of course now that my eyes are opened to a whole new world I found my next addiction…DIGITAL STICKERS. Adding a cute post it or bullet points just makes your day a little bit more fun 🙂

Olive Garden House Salad Review

I went to the Olive Garden today and was served this unlimited house salad with field greens instead of iceberg lettuce. I liked the taste of it but the texture threw me off because I was expecting the classic American mix. I am hoping this swap was temporary because there was a shortage at the restaurant because you can’t mess with a classic! Update: after some research – due to crop disease, 2020 aftermath, and supply and demand levels – it looks like there is a iceberg lettuce and romaine lettuce shortage. This is causing a huge price increase for stores/restaurants but is not affecting field greens – hence, new Olive Garden house salad for now!

♬ Hit It – Yung Skrrt

New at Target! Does anyone else like to browse the aisles for new products on the regular? I feel like I’ve been doing that more than ever lately because quarantine had me in a little rut. David and I were at Target last week and picked these babies up – maybe they aren’t as new as I think but they are new to me and I haven’t really seen anyone else talk about these.

So here are some precursors to this review – I do not like Starbucks Egg Bites and I am not a huge fan of the 3 Petit Lechons Brand of sous vide bites from Aldi/Specialty Grocery Stores. Costco and Target also see the ThreeBridge Egg Cup bites but I don’t think they have much flavor.

I didn’t have high hopes before trying but the ham and swiss combo sounded good.

Here’s the run down:

These are $4.49 for a box of 4 omelet cups. The cups are the size of mini cupcakes and come two in a pack. One box is one serving, coming in at 2g total carbs for the entire box – which is not bad at all, however, the portion is tiny LOL. You win some, you lose some, right?

These can be found in the frozen food aisle, next to the frozen breakfast items. You can order it for pick up at your local store as well.

Prep:

The omelet cups are frozen and do not require thawing to cook. You just remove the plastic and then pop them in the microwave for a minute and a half and then let them sit for another minute.

5 Keto-Friendly Snacks from Amazon

Legendary Foods Tasty Pastry (pop tart dupe)

If you’re looking for a nostalgic way to stay keto on the go, these are delicious and close enough to give you pop tart vibez. We like the brown sugar flavor best but there’s also a strawberry option as well. We prefer these straight outta the box but you can toast them like the real day.

Good to Go Snack Bars

These cakey bars give off some serious fig newton without the fig vibez. They are soft with a little chew and are the perfect sweet treat when you’re on the go.

Keto Farms Cheesy Jalapeno Mix

If you’re a fan if jalapeno white cheddar popcorn mix, this one’s for you. The seasoning on the nuts and cheese is a dupe for the popcorn shop favorite and is only 2g net carbs for a serving!

Taco Bell Taco Supreme Sunflower Seeds

These seeds are for those of you who are nervous snackers – trying to get the seed out of the shell is 75% of the work and where almost all of the flavor is. We love to have these on hand when we’re on long drives or road trips.

Sola Granola

We have yet to try a flavor of this keto friendly granola that we haven’t liked. It’s so good you can’t even tell it’s mostly a nut mix! Eat it for a quick snack or use it as a topping on yogurt or eat it like cereal.

Genius Gourmet Spicy Nacho and Ranch Keto Chips Review

I recently purchased two cases of chips by Genius Gourmet–Spicy Nacho and Ranch cause they’ve been all the rage on Instagram. Y’all know I’m a sucker for salty snacks so I had to try these babies. To help you gauge my taste, I do like the Quest Tortilla Chips, Aldi Pork Rinds, Mushroom Crisps, and Lavash Chips for my kettle and corn tortilla chip replacements. There was a sale going on so each box was $23.92 for 8 bags of chips ($2.99) per 1.13oz bag, which is one serving.

Here are the macros:

Texture: exactly like a Quaker Rice Crisp and/or a Popcorners brand Flex Chip.

Taste: The Spicy Nacho has like a 1 second hit of heat to it, but is mostly just cheesy with a hint of tomato powder. Definitely nacho vibes. The Ranch had a really off putting chemical taste but a decent sour cream and onion aftertaste.

Value: You get about 10-12 chips per bag which I think is a little low for $3 a pop. The macros, specifically total carb count, are on point, so if you are a snacker and need something crunchy and salty to make it work into your carbs, they are worth it.

Final verdict: I would buy the Spicy Nacho again but NOT the Ranch. They both have a good crunch factor but the Ranch has an odor I can’t get over. If you are a fan of rice crisps, you’ll really like these chips. If you are expecting a dorito, you are not going to be impressed.

A New Home For Your Instant Pot

Ahhhh the Instant Pot – how did I ever boil eggs before you? This kitchen gadget is incredibly useful and is something I would consider a staple item. I use it weekly and it’s the perfect tool for hard/soft boiled eggs, bone broths, and when I was eating lots of carbs — rice.

I’m a sucker for the Instant Pot and it’s gadgets so my kitchen used to be filled with all these random accessories that somehow contribute to my Instant Pot routine. Queue, the magical Target utility cart! This thing is so easy to put together and is sold at a great price point ($30). I use it to store my 6 quart Instant Pot, all of its accessories, and my Nutribullet + its accessories. This utility cart lives in my pantry and has wheels if I need to move it out of the way.

Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker Review

I recently impulse bought an ice cream maker because 1) it was on sale for a very reasonable price ($32 compared to $79 reg) and 2) I had heavy whipping cream and whole milk in my fridge that I wanted to use up. Not very logical or practical, but it’s winter right now and I’m trying to keep myself busy inside to distract myself from the fact that it’s a froze tundra outside.

The Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker is built to make about 1.5 quarts of ice cream. It comes with an electric base, bowl, paddle, and lid. It’s about the size of a large blender and comes in red or white. There was also an instruction and recipe book included in the box, however, the machine is pretty easy to put together sans instructions.

Luckily, David has agreed to be my sous-chef for life so he was able to help me put this thing to the test. The first thing we had to do was freeze the mixing bowl because there is a liquid in there that must be solid before any ice cream can be made. Sixteen hours later, we had a frozen bowl, whole milk, heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and some sugar waiting to be transformed. After mixing all of the ingredients together, we turned on the machine and poured the contents into bowl as it spun. The mixture started to thicken after every minute, and after about 15 minutes, we had a soft-serve textured 1.5 quart of vanilla ice cream. We also added crushed pineapple to the mixture to take it up a notch.

Overall, the Ice Cream Maker completed it’s mission exactly as described in the instruction manual. I was pretty impressed at how fast everything came together – and clean up was a breeze. The only thing I would change is to use higher quality vanilla extract because the one we used tasted more like alcohol. Pretty pumped to test out different ice cream recipes over the next couple of weeks!

Filipino Fare @ Lamesa – Toronto, Canada

Traveling is hard…but traveling with people is EXTRA hard–especially when those people are family. I feel like any time we take a family trip, people stop being polite and start getting real. However, I do have to give my 27 year old baby sister props for being super type A and always taking the lead when we go anywhere together. She does all the research and plans out each and every spot, stop, and Insta photo ops. I literally just show up and she does the rest.

During our most recent trip together, we made the trek over to good ole Toronto, Canada. I heard it was like the New York of Canada…but after visiting, I feel like it’s more of a Chi-town. It’s way too chill to be like New York. Something that surprised me about Toronto was the diverse population. There were so many different types of people walking around the city. Everywhere we walked we would hear all kinds of languages being spoken and see all types of foods being eaten.

One of the most memorable experiences from Toronto was the Kamayan dinner experience at Lamesa. This was a feast completely eaten by hand and it included a variety of traditional Filipino food served on a banana leaf. Not only was the food delicious, but i was a beautiful spread. My favorite foods were the garlic rice and the ube cake – my god that stuff was sooo good. Filipino food is like a flavor punch to the face, so it’s never boring or bland. The staff at the restaurant gave us a cultural lesson about the Philippines after each bite and it was just nice to take a step out of our Vietnamese/Chinese/Korean/Japanese food comfort zones for a change. My pro tip for visiting this restaurant is to make reservations and bring wet wipes!
